COR for Executives
You can be very good at what you do and still find being you complicated.
Leadership can be rewarding, exciting and deeply meaningful. It can also bring pressures that are difficult to understand unless you've experienced them.
The more senior you become, the more responsibility you may carry, whether it's people, money, difficult decisions and/or the future of an organisation.
You're expected to provide confidence when you feel uncertain, absorb other people's anxieties and remain composed when the stakes are high.
And sometimes, the more people depend on you, the fewer places you have to be yourself.
COR Executive offers something different. A confidential therapeutic relationship where you don't need to lead, perform, impress anyone or have the answers.
The person behind the performance.
Many of the qualities that contribute to professional success can also make other parts of life more complicated.
Independence can become isolation. High standards can become relentless self-criticism. Responsibility can become feeling responsible for everything. And being needed can make letting go surprisingly difficult.
These aren't necessarily weaknesses. They may be qualities that have served you exceptionally well.
But understanding where they come from, what they protect and whether they still serve you can change how you experience your life.
Therapy gives you the opportunity to explore those questions without having to turn every conversation into a problem to solve or a performance to improve.
The aim isn't simply to become a better leader. It's to understand yourself well enough to have more choice about how you live, work, relate and lead.

What might we talk about?
In short, whatever matters to you.
You might be experiencing anxiety, difficulties in your relationships, loneliness, anger, grief or uncertainty about your future.
You might be questioning why achievement doesn't feel as satisfying as you expected, why certain people provoke such strong reactions, or why relinquishing control feels harder than it should.
You might want to understand your relationships with authority, intimacy, responsibility or success.
Or you might simply want somewhere to think about who you are beyond the role you've worked so hard to occupy.
You don't need to be struggling professionally to benefit from therapy. And you don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to explore.
Psychotherapy. Not executive coaching with a different name.
Coaching often begins with the question: “How can I become a more effective leader?”
Psychotherapy allows us to explore that question, but also to go further.
Why is success so important to me? What happens when I fail? Why do I find certain relationships difficult? What am I afraid might happen if I stop being indispensable?
At COR, we consider the whole picture: your experiences, personality, relationships, professional responsibilities and the circumstances in which you live and work.
We won't assume every difficulty originates within you. Sometimes the situation really is difficult.
Our practitioners understand the realities of organisational life, but their role isn't to tell you how to run your business.
This is psychotherapy for you, not performance coaching for your employer.
Your therapy. Your business.
COR Executive is available to individuals who fund their own therapy and to those whose sessions are sponsored by their employer or organisation.
Either way, you are the client.
Your employer doesn't decide what you discuss, what you work towards or what you should take away from therapy.
Your conversations remain confidential, subject to the usual professional and legal limits. Clinical information is not shared with a sponsoring organisation without your explicit consent.
You don't have to turn your personal development into a business case.
We'll say it again - you are the client.
This is a strictly confidential space designed to support your individual well-being and personal growth. Our priority is to provide a setting where you can explore your experiences with absolute privacy and integrity.
Meet the people behind COR for Executives.
COR Executive is delivered by the people who founded the practice.
Between us, we bring decades of experience in psychotherapy, psychology, executive leadership, organisational life and working with people through some of their most complicated experiences.
We understand the professional realities of leadership. But we're equally interested in the person beyond the role.
Three different perspectives. One shared belief that understanding ourselves can make life better.
Professional excellence is sustainable only when the person behind it is heard.

Dean brings a distinctive combination of experience in psychology, psychotherapy, business leadership and organisational life. Having spent much of his career working with executives, founders and senior leaders, he understands that the challenges people experience at work are often closely connected to what is happening in their lives beyond it. His work explores the relationship between how we think, feel and behave, and the experiences that shape us. He has a particular interest in the patterns that influence our relationships, our sense of identity and the expectations we place on ourselves: why some people find it difficult to relinquish control, why achievement doesn't always bring satisfaction, why certain situations provoke unexpectedly strong reactions, and why being exceptionally capable doesn't necessarily make life feel straightforward. Dean recognises that the qualities which help us succeed can sometimes make other parts of life more complicated. Independence can make asking for help difficult. High standards can become relentless self-criticism. A strong sense of responsibility can leave little room for our own needs. Understanding how these patterns develop, and whether they still serve us, can create opportunities to think, feel and live differently. Alongside his psychotherapy training and practice, Dean has spent more than 20 years working in People and HR leadership, including executive, interim and fractional appointments. He has advised organisations and their leaders on complex questions involving people, culture, performance and organisational change, often in commercially demanding and high-pressure environments. His academic background in positive psychology and coaching psychology adds another dimension to his work. He is interested not only in understanding psychological difficulties, but also in what helps people build meaningful relationships, develop a stronger sense of themselves and experience greater satisfaction in their lives. That breadth of experience has shaped how Dean approaches therapy. He understands the pressures of responsibility, the complexities of professional identity and how easily our personal needs can become secondary to the expectations of others. Equally, he recognises that people are much more than their careers, achievements or the roles they occupy. Dean's approach is thoughtful, curious and direct. He brings warmth and genuine interest to his conversations, alongside a willingness to explore the questions that aren't always comfortable or easy to answer. He is particularly interested in helping people recognise the assumptions they hold about themselves, the roles they find themselves playing and the patterns they may have come to accept as simply part of who they are. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, questioning your relationships, struggling with expectations, navigating a significant life change or wondering why success hasn't brought the fulfilment you anticipated, Dean offers an opportunity to look beyond the immediate problem and better understand the person experiencing it. His aim is simple: To help you understand yourself beyond the roles you occupy, recognise what might be holding you back, and make more conscious choices about how you want to live.

Laura has spent nearly 30 years helping people make sense of themselves, their relationships and some of life's most complicated experiences. Her work spans everything from anxiety, confidence and identity to relationship difficulties, intimacy, sexual concerns and the lasting effects of difficult or traumatic experiences. She has a particular interest in the patterns we develop throughout our lives: why certain relationships feel harder than others, why we sometimes repeat behaviours we know aren't helping us, and why understanding these things can make such a difference. Laura recognises that our personal and professional lives are rarely as separate as we'd like to believe. The relationships we have, the experiences we've lived through and the expectations we place on ourselves can influence how we think, make decisions, respond to pressure and relate to the people around us. Understanding those connections is often where meaningful change begins. Alongside her private practice, Laura has held senior clinical leadership roles, including over a decade leading services at a specialist sexual violence support centre. Her experience also extends beyond the therapy room; she has advised major media organisations on sensitive storylines and works as a consultant psychotherapist with executives and senior leaders from some of the UK's largest organisations, as well as smaller, sector-leading businesses. She has trained and supervised therapists for more than two decades, bringing considerable clinical experience, professional judgement and a deep understanding of the complexities of human behaviour to her work. Laura is particularly interested in the things people find difficult to talk about, even with those closest to them. Questions about intimacy, feelings of shame, complicated relationships or experiences that have affected someone's confidence or sense of control. She understands how easily these concerns can become hidden behind an otherwise successful, capable and seemingly uncomplicated life. Her experience has taught her that what people show the world doesn't always reflect what they're experiencing privately, and that having somewhere to explore those differences can be enormously valuable. Despite that depth of experience, Laura's approach is refreshingly straightforward. She's calm, thoughtful and warm, but isn't afraid to ask the questions that might help you see something differently. She understands that talking about relationships, intimacy, identity or difficult experiences can feel uncomfortable, and works at a pace that respects that. Whether you're navigating a particular difficulty, questioning familiar patterns or simply wanting to understand yourself better, Laura offers the opportunity to have conversations that don't always happen elsewhere. Her aim is simple: To help you understand what's happening in your life, why it matters, and what you might want to do differently. Laura is an avid reader and traveller, and an active partner, mother and grandmother. (And we at COR are convinced that Gillian Anderson's character in Sex Education was modelled on Laura!)

Michelle brings more than 25 years of experience working with people through change, uncertainty, difficult relationships and demanding moments in their professional lives. Her career has taken her across industries and continents, giving her an appreciation of how differently people experience pressure, responsibility and expectations. Her work has centred on understanding what makes people tick: why we respond to pressure in particular ways, why relationships become difficult, why change can feel threatening, and why we sometimes struggle to put our own needs alongside those of everyone else. Michelle recognises that our professional and personal lives are closely connected. Our confidence, responses to criticism, relationships with authority and ability to set boundaries can all be influenced by experiences and beliefs developed long before we entered the workplace. Understanding ourselves more deeply can help us recognise familiar patterns, question the expectations we carry and discover different ways of approaching life. Alongside her psychotherapy training, Michelle has built an extensive career in senior People and HR roles, working with organisations ranging from smaller businesses to major international companies. Her experience spans the UK, Europe, Australia and other international markets, including complex, commercially demanding environments. She has supported executives, managers and employees through organisational change, challenging relationships, difficult decisions and uncertainty. Her experience includes leadership coaching, workplace mediation and organisational development, often where professional responsibilities and personal circumstances become difficult to separate. Michelle is also an experienced transformational coach, helping individuals and leaders explore their thinking, challenge assumptions and approach decisions with greater confidence. Her psychotherapy training builds on that experience while offering something different: an opportunity to explore the person beyond their professional responsibilities or ambitions. That combination of experience gives Michelle an appreciation of the pressures people place on themselves. She understands how being dependable can become feeling responsible for everything, how ambition can make uncertainty difficult, and how putting others first can leave little room for ourselves. Her approach is warm, practical and thoughtful. She brings curiosity, compassion and a willingness to ask questions that encourage different perspectives. Having worked with people from many backgrounds, she understands that everyone brings their own experiences, expectations and ways of making sense of the world. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, navigating a difficult relationship, questioning your confidence, dealing with change or simply feeling that something needs attention, Michelle offers an opportunity to explore what's happening without expecting you to have all the answers. Her aim is simple: To help you make sense of the pressures and expectations shaping your life, understand yourself more fully, and make choices that feel right for you.

Somewhere you don't have to lead.
Leadership can involve spending much of your time thinking about what everybody else needs from you.
Therapy is different.
You don't need to motivate us, impress us, protect us from difficult feelings or appear confident.
You don't need to have the answer.
You can bring whatever is happening in your life, whether it's connected to work or has nothing to do with it.
We offer a setting that respects your history and the complexity of your current role, while focusing on the integrity of your personal experience. This is a commitment to understanding the self, not merely 'optimising' the executive. Our approach is grounded in clinical excellence and a deep appreciation for the unique pressures of leadership.
